Q & A CMU-IPAS:


Answer : Yes, applicants can apply for a maximum of 3 programs per round. However, they must accept only one offer and manage your time so that you can take all required subject tests (if any) within 3 hours (9:00–12:00).
Answer : All Thai students who have more than one citizenship must register in TCAS before processing to the CMU- IPAS and applying with the Thai student’ s registration. Once you get " Offer Acceptance in CMU- IPAS, you must reply to the offer in both TCAS and CMU- IPAS systems. Failure to do so will result in the automatic termination of the offering. However, if you would like to apply on a Foreign student’ s registration, you have to pay tuition fees at the foreign student rate.
Answer : We offer two tracks for applicants.

- REGULAR TRACK: (Online Written Exam and Interview)
  • Applicants who do not meet the English proficiency requirements and do not have all required standard tests must choose “regular track” and take subject tests (CMU exam) and/or CMU-English Placement Test depending on the applied program.
- SPECIAL TRACK: (Online Interview only)
  • Applicants who meet the English proficiency requirements and have all required standard tests may choose the “Special Track” and must submit standardized tests in specific subjects and evidence of English Proficiency required by the applied program.
Answer : Applicants may refer to the "How to apply CMU- IPAS" guide on our website. In addition, applicants must carefully review the program qualifications in Annexes 2 before deciding to apply. If you have questions about program requirements, please contact the program coordinator directly for more information.
Answer : After submitting the application form, you will not be able to change any personal information EXCEPT request to change name or passport/Thai ID card only by sending a request to this email: ipas_admission@reg.cmu.ac.th and attach the following proofs: 1. an official CMU-IPAS application form and 2. A scanned passport/Thai ID card in pdf files.
Answer : There are 5 ways to pay the application fee.

1) QR code during the application process. (No fee and real time update)

2) Credit card (approximately 2.1 per cent for processing fee)

3) Payment at the Bank of Ayudhya Public Company (Krungsri)) (bank counter only in Thailand) with the invoice barcode generated in the application system (10 Thai Baht processing fee).

4) Alipay (approximately 1.7 per cent for processing fee)

5) WeChat Pay (approximately 1.7 per cent for processing fee)

Answer : If the payment was declined, please check with your bank for the reason or use another credit card to make a payment.
Answer : Applicants MUST confirm the "offer acceptance" within the deadline in each round. Otherwise, your "offer acceptance" will be automatically declined.
Answer : To apply for Thai visa, accepted foreign applicants MUST request their official visa application documents via CMU-IRD-VISA Online within 1 week after accepting the offer in IPAS at https://ird.cmu.ac.th/visa-online/.

The International Relations Department of Chiang Mai University (CMU-IRD) will send the documents required for the visa application to the email address provided by the applicant during the application process. Hard copies or originals of the documents are available upon request. Foreign applicants will not be able to enter Thailand or extend their existing visa in Thailand without the official application documents obtained through CMU-IRD-VISA Online.

Answer : Admitted international applicants are required to purchase health insurance while studying at Chiang Mai University as indicated in the University’s Announcement on Student Health Insurance. On the other hand, Thai applicants (1st year students only) have to register with Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital within the determined period at https://www3.reg.cmu.ac.th/stdinfo/undergraduate /index.php
Answer : All confirmed candidates must complete the (online) New Student Enrollment System prior to the start of the 1st semester.
Procedure for enrollment of new students

1. Personal information system for students

- Register at https://www3.reg.cmu.ac.th/stdinfo/undergraduate/ using your 13-digit Thai ID card (for Thais) or passport number (for foreigners) registered at CMU-IPAS.

- Log in to the New Student Registration System, fill out the CMR01 form and update your personal information, print it, sign it, and upload it back to the system (electronic signature is accepted).

2. Request for documents

1) Signed documents from CMR01.

2) Color photographs of the whole face, not black and white (JPG format), with white or light colored shirt with sleeves and collar, no adornments or patterns, clear background, polite hairstyle, no hat and no glasses.

3) Color photographs of the whole face, not black and white (JPG format) taken with a Thai ID ID / passport on the holder's information page.

4) Thai applicant: Thai identity card ID.

5) Foreign applicant: the passport on the passport holder's information page.

6) Official high school diploma (if not in Thai/English, please submit the original and notarized translation in one file)

7) Official high school graduation certificate (if not in Thai/English, please submit the original and notarized translation in 1 file)

8) A scholarship certificate. (if applicable)

Remarks

1. All documents must be scanned and saved in PDF format, except items 2) and 3).

2. The student who does not complete the registration within the deadline will be automatically disqualified.
