Regular Track (Online Written Examination and Interview)
Applicants who do not meet the English proficiency requirements and do not have all required standard tests must choose “regular track” and take subject tests (CMU exam) and/or CMU-English Placement Test depending on the applied program.

Admission Timeline for 2027 Academic Year
Applications must be submitted online at https://admission.reg.cmu.ac.th/ipas/ in each Round period indicated in the following schedule;
Applicants are permitted to apply for a maximum of five (5) programs per admission round. However, only one (1) offer may be accepted. Applicants may sign in to the admission system at any time in order to apply for additional programs (up to five in total), even after the payment has been successfully completed.
Remark: For applicants who apply through the Regular Track (with CMU-EXAM), multiple subject tests will be scheduled within the same examination period (09:00 – 12:00 hrs.).

- Applicants who apply with Thai National ID/Those holding a 13-digit ID issued by the Data Management Center (DMC) with numbers starting with G-code, 0, 6, or 7 must register and accept the offer both of TCAS (https://student.mytcas.com/) and IPAS (https://admission.reg.cmu.ac.th/ipas/) within specific time frames for each round listed in the table above. If a candidate fails to do so, this will be considered DECLINE all offers.
- Round 3 available only for Thai applicants or International applicants holding a valid non-immigrant ED Visa or non-immigrant ED Plus Visa (required document: proof of a valid non-immigrant ED VISA or non-immigrant ED Plus Visa with a duration of not less than six (6) months from the previous educational institution. The visa must remain valid until the semester opening date as proof of continuous educational engagement and legal residency status in Thailand.)

Chiang Mai University International Program Admission System (CMU-IPAS) is the admission system for international programs offered by Chiang Mai University for Thai applicants and international applicants. CMU-IPAS is an independent system from the Thai University Central Admission System (TCAS), CMU-IPAS adopts the same code of conduct on “Offer Acceptance” for TCAS lead by the Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT). Here are procedures regarding the code conduct:
- Once admission results have been made, a successful applicant must reply to offers in both systems: CMU-IPAS and TCAS in specific time frames for each Round listed in the table above. If a candidate fails to do so, this will be considered as the “Decline ALL offers”.
- For each reply to the offer, a candidate can accept ONLY ONE faculty/field of study out of the list of Offers.
- A candidate has only 3 counts to be able to change the acceptance on preferred faculty/field of study upon available offers. The counting starts at the first time the candidate making the acceptance. Each candidate can turn down an allocated spot just twice but the change must be made within the designated time frame, this counts as the second. The third time will be the last and it cannot be changed anymore except to “Decline ALL offers”.
- Once a confirmed acceptance has been made, the candidate is not eligible to apply to the next available Round(s). If needed, he/she must decline – on the other hand – revoke his/her acceptance in order to be eligible to apply to the upcoming round of admission. All transaction of acceptance or decline must be done within the designated time frame.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR ADMISSION
All applicants must complete the online application form and submit clear and legible scanned documents (Each file size must not exceed 1 MB) If the document is not issued in Thai or English, applicants must submit the original document along with an official English translation.
1) Academic and Program-Specific Documents
- A copy of the official graduation certificate or equivalent qualification. Applicants who have not yet graduated must submit an official certificate of current student status.
- A copy of the official academic transcript.
- A valid English proficiency test result, if required for the selected application track and program. Applicants applying through the Regular Track who do not have a qualifying English proficiency test result required to take the CMU English Placement Test (CMU EPT) in accordance with the requirements specified in Annex 3.
- Standardized Test Results in Specialized Subjects: Applicants applying through the Special Track must submit valid standardized test results in the specialized subjects required by their chosen program, as specified in Annex 3.
- Other Program-Specific Documents: Any additional documents required by the chosen program, as specified in Annex 3.
2) Personal Identification Documents
- Thai applicants and applicants holding a 13-digit identification number issued by the Data Management Center (DMC) with number begins with G-code, 0, 00, 6, or 7 must submit a copy of their Thai National ID Card or relevant 13-digit identification card.
- International applicants must submit a copy of valid passport.
3) Photograph:
One recent photograph in school uniform or formal attire, taken within the last six (6) months, in JPG/JPEG format.
4) Non-immigrant ED visa or Non-immigrant ED Plus visa:
International applicants applying in Round 3 must submit proof of a valid Non-Immigrant ED Visa or Non-immigrant ED Plus visa.
Remark: If any submitted document is found to be false, fraudulent, altered, or otherwise invalid, the applicant will be disqualified.
